Applying to college can be a huge burden. Besides the work involved with an application, other hurdles exist including steep fees that can deter a student from thinking he/she can afford to even apply to college. In an effort to support a college-going culture, Spring Board established the Spring Board College Fund to remove the financial barrier of applying to college so that all students can have a chance at postsecondary success.
The Spring Board College Fund is available to assist high school students in the greater Roaring Fork Valley with scholarships to cover the fees associated with applying to college in the 2014–2015 school year. Our goal is to grow this fund so we may continue to support high school students embarking on their postsecondary plans. Through partnerships with Basalt High School and Roaring Fork High School, Spring Board works closely with counselors who assist college-going students with their applications to determine who is a best fit for the scholarships. Students applying to college can use the funding for: placement exam prep courses, additional standardized test fees (ACT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests), sending superstores, and college application fees.
